Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma is an extremely rare malignant neoplasm arising from follicular dendritic cells, and this was fi rst described in 1986 by Monda et al. (1). About 60% of the cases occur in lymph nodes such as the cervical, axillary and mediastinal lymph nodes, while a wide variety of extranodal sites may also be affected, including the tonsil, spleen, liver, gastrointestinal tract, mediastinum and breast (2). Approximately one hundred cases of follicular dendritic cell sarcoma have currently been reported in the English medical literature.
